Statistical Analysis of Refractive and Diffractive Scintillation at High Latitudes

چکیده
A comprehensive statistical analysis was performed on Global Positioning System scintillation data acquired at high latitudes from 2014 to 2017 after separating phase events originating refraction and/or diffraction. Events exceeding a prescribed threshold were identified and analyzed statistically as function of time, latitude, propagation angle. The indicates that scintillation, which occurs more frequently than amplitude is generated through refractive processes can typically be treated stochastic Total Electron Content effect for Navigation Satellite frequencies, have the highest probability around magnetic noon in Cusp. On average index values decrease particularly during first 6 hr evening. In addition, irregularities poleward side aurora are predominantly smaller Fresnel scale, when observed. By comparison, mean scintillations equatorial aurora, also present, existence larger scale. We found that, day dusk, spectral content apparently changes with decreasing off-B Angle. No such increase readily apparent night or dawn.

GPS phase scintillation and proxy index at high latitudes during a moderate geomagnetic storm
The amplitude and phase scintillation indices are customarily obtained by specialised GPS Ionospheric Scintillation and TEC Monitors (GISTMs) from L1 signal recorded at the rate of 50 Hz. The scintillation indices S4 and σ8 are stored in real time from an array of high-rate scintillation receivers of the Canadian High Arctic Ionospheric Network (CHAIN). Ionospheric phase scintillation was obser...

Global positioning system scintillation and total electron content (TEC) data have been collected by ten specialized GPS Ionospheric Scintillation and TEC Monitors (GISTMs) of the Canadian High Arctic Ionospheric Network (CHAIN). The phase scintillation index σ8 is obtained from the phase of the L1 signal sampled at 50 Hz. Maps of phase scintillation occurrence as a function of the altitude-adj...
متن کاملScaling of diffractive and refractive lenses
We discuss both numerically and analytically how the space-bandwidth product and the information density of lenses scale as functions of their diameter and f-number over many orders of magnitude. This information may be useful for the design of optical computing and interconnection systems. For diffractive lenses, cost is defined as the number of resolution elements the lithographic production ...
متن کاملCorotating Interaction Regions at High Latitudes
Ulysses observed a stable strong CIR from early 1992 through 1994 during its first journey into the southern hemisphere. After the rapid latitude scan in early 1995, Ulysses observed a weaker CIR from early 1996 to mid-1997 in the northern hemisphere as it traveled back to the ecliptic at the orbit of Jupiter. These two CIRs are the observational basis of the investigation into the latitudinal ...
